It is perhaps one of my favourite Malayalam songs.....indeed....actually...the one who understands Malayalam....will feel that he is blessed....for he can understand the meaning of this wonderful song.......the lyrics penned down by Gireesh Puthenchery are absolutely BLISS!....out of the world!....how does one come up with such splendid writing? I wished every person in this Goddamn world knew malayalam....so that he could feel the beauty of this nectar of a song................

As I listen to the elysian voice of veteran singer. P Jayachandran....something transfers me to a different world.....forget Mohit Chauhan...forget Yuvan...or Rahman.....this song....this voice...this lyrical ballad...recieves much more anticipation and applause than anything or anyone else.....A blissful track...rendered by Chitra and Jayachandran Sir....

Gurgaon - Delhi Metro trials today!

The trial run for the Gurgaon- Delhi metro section will start from HUDA City Center Metro Station of sector 29 Gurgaon on January 29 .
Haryana Chief Minister, Mr.Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Union Minister for Urban Development Mr.S Jaipal Reddy will be the Chief Guests on the occasion.

Stating this today, an official spokesman said that the trial run of Metro would be flagged off by the Haryana Chief Minister and the Union Urban Development Minister at 12.00 noon on Friday. He said that the programme would be graced by Union Minister of State for Urban Development Mr Saugata Ray, Minister of State for Agriculture and Cooperation of Haryana Mr Sukhbir Kataria, Local MP Rao Inderjeet Singh, MLA Badshapur Rao Dharampal, Chairman of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Secretary to Union Urban Development Minister Mr.Ramachandran, Managing Director of DMRC Mr. E. Sreedharan. In addition, the Haryana Chief Secretary Smt Urvashi Gulati, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Mr.D S Dhesi would also be present in the function.
He said that the trial runs on this section would cover a distance of approximately 11 Kilometers covering the HUDA City Center Metro Station, IFFCO Chowk Metro station, MG Road Metro Station, Sikandarpur Metro Station, Guru Dronacharya Metro Station, Arjangarh Metro station, Ghitorni and Sultanpur Metro Station. The work on the 7.05 KM long Gurgaon- Delhi Metro rail section costing Rs 763 Crore started in December 2006 and it had been completed in a period of three years. The formal opening of Metro rail from Gurgaon to Kutub Minar was expected in coming May and it would be extended upto Central secretariat by June this year.

It's hip! Very modern with lyrics very much realistic and straight out of a 50-cent single! A very promising track, marking the Bollywood debut of ace Tamil composer/singer- Yuvan Shankar Raja...his grainy voice works wonders, I still wonder why didn't come up earlier? Still that track NEETHANE from SARVAM boggles fresh in my head....HIS VOICE haunting me!......If propelled with proper publicity and media.....someone is surely destined to match Rahman's feat in Bollywood, if not cross him!

Phir Miley Sur....Celebrating the Republic day of India

"First of all a HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY to all of  my INDIAN brothers and sisters"

Once there was a video, that would embroil my heart and soul towards the television...........this was ...I don't know.....15 years ago....back in that small village in Kerala...where I was unaware about computers or cable television.....All I knew was that.....I would sing along that mesmerizing track....MILEY SUR MERA TUMHARA.....with the most glorious faces of the nation- a young Amitabh (err...in his 40s)...Kamal...Suhasini....Ravi Shankar ji...and the lost goes on,,,,and on....and on.... (whom I couldn't even recognize then...:P). And now, on the occassion of India's 60th Republic day celebrations, THE TIMES group has unwounded a present................PHIR MILE SUR...................A recompilation of that same track.....the same words..............but in a new package.......a new AVATAR....
Yes.....an effort on the part of India's leading Media Group...............a rather......GLITTERING effort......
Kailash Surendranath has moved the camera to project his vision of EK SUR (UNITED VOICE) of the NAVBHAARAT (MODERN INDIA)......
The curtain fades......and a rising sun leads us to an enticing AR Rahman......pressing his magical fingers against the strings on his FINGERBOARD......producing a magic that takes you on a journey.....a journey covering miles......encompassing languages..........transcending cultures................A journey across INDIA.....

We see some of those faces from the classic version of the song..............Amitabh.....Zakir Hussain......Ustad Amjad Ali....etc etc etc.............
while most of the icons were seen with their sons....while Mr.Bachchan's son appeared with his....erm.....daughter-in-law too...;).....
Amitabh Bachchan's part has been shot at the TAJ.......significative of two objectives ---

• in remembrance of the 26/11 incident
• for a splendid view of the GATEWAY OF INDIA

Although the song starts off in Hindi.....but soon amalgamates into Tamil......Telugu....Bangla....Kannada.....Punjabi....Malayalam....Gujarati....Marathi.....and there were others which I couldn't reckon....
It was an all-star ensemble with the KHANDAAN of Bollywood unifying for the first time........Salman Khan didnt have to move his lips for he was seen with a bunch of mute children......while Aamir enacted his RANCHO - TAARE ZAMEEN PE role...with a bunch of kids....vocalizing something in the AATI KYA KHANDALA ishtyle....while SRK.....hmm.....wait...I will unveil that later.........
The Kingpins of Modern Tamil Cinema......CHIYAAN VIKRAM (Aparichit) and SURIYA(Hero of Tamil  Ghajini) waved their smiles for the video.................while Malayalam cine-icon MAMMOOTY lip synced to the voice of the LEGEND YESUDAS while his son VIJAY kept company...and the journey to Punjab was a spellbinding view of the HARMANDIR SAHIB (Golden temple)........while Gurdaas Mann and Juhi Chawla vowed to the theme of the song......Kavita Krishnamurthy symbolized Kannada.....Atul Kulkarni along with Sonali Kulkarni swayed in Marathi...........and out of the blue.......Parthiv Gohil filled the song with grooving energy as he belted along the gracefully dry environs of Gujarat............The Eastern side was enlightened by Rituparna Sengupta, Shaan and some other encapturing faces of that part of India........................While THE MISS PIGGY CHOPS (Priyanka chopra :P), Deepika Padukone also made an unorthodox appearance............maybe showcasing modern woman of India!....well...Deepika was perhaps replacing her father's place in the original...just as Anushka Shankar did for Pt. Ravi Shankar.....
Besides Rehman....the SHANKAR-EHSAAN-LOY trio also grooved to take the song an alternative genre...while Sonu Nigam was seen in the middle of a market in Faridabad....with a very artificial ROCKSTAR getup....while Shahid Kapoor made a gen-next appearance through a band of dancing LASERs......SIVAMANI's percussion on the water was a masterpiece....!Shobhana and Shiamik Dawar were seen bronzing traditional South Indian dance forms (Bharathanatyam and Mohiniyaatam) with Western moves...............
Umm...ya...now ..comes the SRK part.....he performs THE FAMOUS SRK SWAY.......with the WORLI SEALINK set as the backdrop.......................and whats the beauty about it????hehe....as expected....he's followed by KARAN JOHAR....(LOL.....and yea...in one of the blogs....the writer actually thanked God.....that FARAH Khan didnt make an appearance....to showcase the trio's celluloid FRIENDSHIP!...:P)
But.....hey....what's this ....?...........a bunch of filmstars...n directors...(er..KJo...too...:P)..........and musicians..and palm full of dancers..is that all.......????

Umm....quite specifically...YES!!!..............that is all......................well...thats what we saw in this remake...
Though towards the end a bunch of OLYMPIANS (Abhinav bindra..Vijender..Saina Nehwal etc)........were showcased at LIGHTENING SPEED...as a formality....and mind it...there was not even a single cricketer...or hockey person!...(ehh..except SRK....remember..KABIR KHAN...umm...frm CHAK DE!.....:P)

Well...thats most of it.....the music and lyrics were almost the same as the original one except little improvisations in the middle.......which well..sounded awesome at places....and faltoo at a few....In a world full of hypocrites...................glitter is an appreciation.............but if you go deeper.....you will feel.....a VOID!

Yes! This new compilation seems less pretty...and very crude.....when compared with the original one.....which was...err....is a MASTERPIECE...........You really wanted to salute to all those faces and words throughout the song.................while this new version....with a MODERN MAKEOVER doesn't have that effect until we reach the end where everything fades into the last line of our NATIONAL ANTHEM...........
Even though....time has changed....but after looking at the video...one feels...if technology was retarding through this course of time....!!!! I mean.....the camera work and blending of visuals seemed much more beautiful and matched in the original...while inspite of an EXPONENTIAL growth in Cine-technology....this newer version fails to communicate....or touch.................Yes...it is...good....but then that's it!

not the best...not even better! Maybe BHARATBALA could have made a better video............(REMEMBER AR RAHMAN's MAA TUJHE SALAAM?)
so to sum up.................ZOOM's so-called PREMIERE of EK SUR..............(which they call it PHIR MILEY SUR) was glittering.....very much! Maybe the younger generation.....which was deprived off the CLASSIC version.....would feel this is AWESOME.....but....in my views.....this was GOOD with all that glitter

But then...............ALL THAT GLITTERS MIGHT NOT ALWAYS BE GOLD.....SOMETIMES THEY ARE JUST BRONZE!

Striker (2010/Hindi) Music Review

Story set in the mid-80s!
Well that's what wikipedia ensures us. This would be Tollywood heartthrob Siddhart Narayan's second Bollywood film (after Rang De Basanti) and his first as the sole hero! For those of you who don't know, Tollywood is the collective name that defines the Telugu Film Industry. The film also marks Southie Beauty Padmapriya's entry into the Bollywood dome. Though not the perfect entry, yet the film looks promising and fresh off the takes used by AAMIR (2008). Let's now talk about the music of the film.
Ummm.....Lets go song by song.....one by one.....

• Cham Cham - The opening track of the album is rendered by Sonu Nigam to the tunes of Shailendra Bhavre. The music is kind of repitive, ever since Sufi became a household magma, hats off to efforts by our Bollywood Music directors! The lyrics are pretty much straight forward and gullible. You will love it, if you like soft romantic ballads. Kinda haunting, and coz I loved it, I give it 9.5/10
• Haq Se - Hmmm...the peppy one! marks the singing debut of two new talents from the South Indian Film Industry - A). Siddhart himself (yea he sings too....you can check it out for yourself) and B). YUVAN SHANKAR RAJA. yuvan who? k, guys, don't be startled, for those of you who are aliens to Tamil music, let me tell you that he is one of the most successful Tamil music directors. He is the son of Music Maestro ILAYARAJA (he gave the music of PAA and CHEENI KUM) and Yuvan is perhaps the third best music director in Contemprory Tamil Cinema (the top two being AR REHMAN and HARRIS JAYARAJ :P). Yuvan's voice is easily recognizable- yes! The better one of the two, the raw, sexy whistling voice....yea! that's him alright....LOVE HIS VOICE! especially he when muses - ZAMAANA YE KHAZAANA HAI.............A must listen and I rate it - 9/10
• Bombay Bombay - Siddhart scores again! And yea he recently commented in a daily newspaper that he is ready to face aligations by AAMCHI MUMBAI's ace politicio! Track starts with a dialogue compilation and is a nice R n B/Rap number! I rate it 7.5/10, though I'm sure Hip-hop crazers wud lov it more!
• Maula - Swanand Kirkire, hmm lemme introduce, he is the same guy who penned down AAL IZZ WELL...;)..and rendered his vocals too for the track! The song is more like a qawaali! Quite soothing and so are the lyrics. Kinda slides into Khayaali genre of Hindustani Music but drags your mind off with  Guitar notes during the swap-overs! A track for the Hopefuls! 8/10
• Yun Hua - Vishal Bhardwaj is back after Kaminey to swing his vocal cords again. Yea, a very romantic track, and the beginning actually reminds of that sleepy track from Kaminey (Pehli Baar , remember?), that is until the haunting voice of Vishal creeps in. A melodious romantic ballad. How much? 8.2/10
• Pia Saanwara - Shreya didi's (:P) song! Actually this is the only track in the entire album where you can hear a female's voice. In this MALE DOMINATED album, the track doesn't stand much awe, for the romantic numbers were already taken by Vishal and Sonu and by the time Shreya's Saanwara comes to play, you'd probably be asleep! Naah! Its an average track that might look good on the movie, coz its very situational. 7/10
• Aim Lagaa - The P-Diddy stuff is here, all ya Bad Boyz! The music is typical Hip-Hop, with a swinging flavour of Raggaeton! Blaaze does his magic again. The Tamilian rapper who shot to fame with his BLUE rap frm BLUE (:P) and UNAIPOL ORUVAN from Unaipol Oruvan. A Hip track for the youth of India that likes to swing all the way with their Gangsta lifestyle! 8/10.....The remix version by DJ AKHTAR is slightly faster than the original and sucks!....might sound good only on a dance floor! I give it 5.5/10

So, to wrap up, I'd say go for this album only if you like offbeat albums. You know, like the OST of DEV -D. Striker has tracks that would appeal to different kind of people. From Sufi to Qawwali to Soft Rock to Romantic Ballad to raggae to Hiphop! Hmm...to be frank its a complete package!

Go for it Guyz! You will love atleast one track from the album...That toh I guarantee....and my favourite was CHAMM CHAMM!

This is definitely one of my all time favourites. Harris Jayaraj deserves more than just a pat on the back for this haunting melody! But then, even he drew the inspiration from George Michael's FAITH....a hit from the yesteryears.....Makes me wonder, where have all those wonderful moments of yesteryears disappeared? Yes! this song really takes a teenager back to the college days of his father, at least it had that effect on me. I could imagine myself back in the eighties, and life really untying all kinds of notes to forego another transcendental trip to the center of my past.....A Past Life perhaps!  A Great track....I have modified the lyrics in the english translation to suit my style....and it is dedicated to someone really really special...........Malini?...naah....thats the character played by Simran in the film.....here that person is a secret...a MYSTERY...yet to be unveiled! :P

Why the fuss?

Howdy everyone!
Its been long since I made any appearance on the blog, thats because I was quite unsure about my blog's readership. Anyway, I have decided to continue writing...err...blogging, coz it provides platform to ease out my views on certain stuff!
To begin with, lets just not concentrate on the huge FUSS created over IPL's so-called "invite first and show the door policy" towards the Pakistani cricketers and move over real issues like the earthquake in Haiti and militants getting PARAGLIDING LESSONS. Yes, these should be the center of our concern right now and not some stupid row over cricketers not being sold at the auction center!
Haiti, who had even heard of that before that massive earthquake struck this little Caribbean nation?
Even though my memories take me back to my Third-Grade General Knowledge class, where I was once asked the capital of haiti, and I hadn't known by then (which by the way, I still don't know..sadly!). When did that earthquake happen?

huh! You asking me? well, sorry I'll have to google it right now to play that sort of number-game. True! Coz the indian news channels were busy highlighting Pak's concern over the exclusion of its cricketers in the IPL auction list or Showing the High times of Late Jyoti Basu (My repsects to him, but still, he was 96, was a great figure of respect in the Bengal, but why cover up the entire media for 2 long days showing only his greatness, we knew it already!). Or even better, THE MEDIA CHANNELS WERE BUSY PROMOTING RGV's RANN!
What kind of Ranneeti is that?

Wow! i ws preparing for my Computer Graphics exams that night.
It was on 17th that I came to know about Haiti when I accidentally pushed the buttons 4 and 6 on my remote and lo! CNN appeared on my TV screen, showing the aftermath of the disastrous quake!
"The death toll is estimated at 200,000, according to Haitian government figures relayed by the European Commission, with 80,000 buried in mass graves. The commission now estimates that 2 million are homeless, up from 1.5 million, and says 250,000 are in need of urgent aid."
This is what the reporter said, that shocked me. Just to check, I changed to NDTV and ho ho ho! they were showing Mamata aunty expressing grief over the demise of Shri Basu. I thought  should give a second chance to the Indian media, so I swapped over to AAJ TAK- what did i see............Veer Mahaveer, A desperate effort to promote Salman Khan's Veer and save it from disaster. Hehe! Who would care to watch such a fickle period condo anyway? There was no point in promoting such a worthless film. Another channel was busy pouring in buzz from the latest Reality shows. Buh! The Indian Media channels are simply trying their best to boost their TRPs (Whats that? Even I dont know,,,I'll google it and let u know, that is- If u will).

Whats wrong with the media? Why make fuss over useless issues like the more recent one- OF IPL's obstrusive way of excluding Pakistani cricketers from the IPL and Veer's box-office survival! And that has infact fumed the Indian viewers and MANTRI too. Nitish Kumar of Bihar slamming the IPL and asking it to be banned....Why? Coz it has inflicted the Indo-Pak relationship! HAHA! Indo-Pak relationship, like that was some kind of DOSTANA a few days back! Dear Mr. Nitish Kumar, I respect you for what you have done for Bihar and this country but would like to correct you here, banning IPL would result in the infliction of your own people against you! And why is Pakistan so much concerned about this? I respect the Country, but the truth is- The fuss created is truly misleading the people on both sides of the border. Its the rule of bidding,  that a number of players be shortlisted for auction and only a selected few make it to the teams. And in case of this years IPL- there was hardly a dozen number of slots available for international players, it was not just the pakistani players who didnt make it, there were others too, well, they are not crying! Yes, Pakistan is the T20 champion and were the runners-up in the previous edition, but does that matter? Its the matter of form and time, time changes and things can go into invalidation too! Maybe, this year, West Indies emerges as the Champion, who knows, they have world class players too. And I was really disappointed to see greatmen like Rameez Raja and Wasim Akram raise concern over this issue. They are so much experienced and mature enough to understand such situations (especially after 26/11), but even they were whining on the newschannels. So, here is a message for all my Pakistani borthers and sisters out there- PLEASE DON't TAKE THIS AN AN INSULT TO YOUR NATION, IT WAS JUST PART OF BUSINESS! CONVERT THIS WEAKNESS INTO A STRENGTH AND BUILD ON IT AND REPLY HARD IN THE T20 WORLD CUP THAT FOLLOWS IPL!

Ho! Coming back to the media frenzy, the asles have really pissed me off with their virtue for pushing non-valid and insignificant matters over the top and that too repeatedly, making things echo inside the minds of the sensitive viewer! Go take a break, close down all your satellite links et all, we have CNN and BBC for news and STAR PLUS and ZEE for our Soup n pepper!
And Please, stop promoting RANN and Veer for God's sake and show some real news.
And when u come back, please stop creating fuss out of just anything or nothing!
