ReflectionsAwesome song, powerful lyrics and extreme energy which is not intolerable like those other bands who make less music and more noises! This song has a very peachy feeling to it, which makes it very close to my heart.Well, I would have never listened to this song, hadn't I exchanged my jukebox with a friend's! A very soulful track that can haunt you for days and nights....Karthik's silky voice leaves u nowhere...but surrendered! U will go weak in the knee.....beautifully rendered along with Mohammad Irfan....well...the begining of the song has been chosen as the theme for Raavan's official website....so that makes it even more enthralling....gives an idea of a serious track themed around grief.....the track has a very south indian feeling to it....and the Metal breakthroughs really make this song sound Unorthodox and full of SOUL......................I saw the trailor of the track yesterday on television...WOW!....even more enthralling....I mean....It had the feeling of a Hollywood blockbuster to it....kinda INDI-GOTHIC!.....a deadly Abhishek eloping a wet Aishwarya through the Athirapally waterfalls......WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great camera work...............

BEERA...is the name of Abhishek's character in Raavan....I guess.......and the tamil version is called VEERA.... - Well...the track that attracted me....right from the time of the teaser....awesome track...Such high energy.....a kinda twisty happy go lucky song of an Indian Tarzan!......it can be sung vigorously over long periods of time...both in ur earphones while walking alone or on the hi-fi surround sounds on a dance floor.......such is the credential of this song....VIJAY Prakash has teamed up again with Rahman after FIQRAANA(Blue) and HOSANNA (Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya)...while Mustafa K provides good support....

I was so damn excited about this music release!.......Ever since I caught glimpse of the first teaser on Monday...I have been praying....for Friday to arrive quickly.....although my Friday was all messed up...after I dehydrated...almost paving myself into a heatstroke!....but was disappointed when I couldn;t find the songs anywhere on television or on the internet................
Then came Saturday....and the first thing I did in the morning was check Songs.pk....if they put the songs of Raavan on board for download (ok its illegal...but I didnt download :P...honestly....u'll know y...)........Oh Yea!.....IT WS THERE.......didn't waste anytime.....went to torrentz.com.....and searched for Raavan...found a DDR torrent....high seeds.....(see I told u...I didnt download from the site...;)...).....
And then within 15 minutes....I was ready ....all ears!.....
The album as we all know...is composed by Oscar winner AR Rahman.....penned by Gulzar.....and ofcourse for a MANI RATNAM movie...which makes it all the more important....and attractive.
Raavan has 6 tracks.......herez my jitts on the tracks.....

Thok De Killi - Sukhwinder Singh and Am'Nico shout Thok de Killi throughout this....groovy number......the drums...as usual have that thumping effect....will take time to like it...if you are a soft music lover....Sounds more like an IPL anthem....for the Chennai-Jalandhar team....:P.....MY RATING - 9/10 
4. Ranjha Ranjha - Now..this song...when u read its name...looks like a Punjabi mumbo jumbo.....but you....when listen to it....u get confused....coz....the opening line by Rekha B....does sound like Sufi....but soon.....the Carnatic (Southie) and WESTERN winds take over......its very much similar to Ishq Bina from Taal....a very situational track....kinda sad....Javed Ali has again pulled it off very well......MY RATING - 8.9/10
5. Khili re - Reena Bhardwaj sweeps a very slow romantic number...has a very string influence of classical Indian music....(both Hindustani and Carnatic)....My RATING - 8.2/10
6. Kata Kata - Another hi-energy number.....clearly a song that mocks at the occassion when a man is getting married to a woman...relating it to a situation of a goat being sacrificed....Ila Arun..and Sapna Awasthi reverberate in their hi-pitched voices while Kunal Ganjawala does the Bakra's Kata work!........MY RATING - 8.9/10

All in all...a very good album with 3 hi-energy tracks in Beera, Thok De Killi and Kata Kata......

Behene De is the soul of the album while  Khili Re is quite peaceful and would quite well with soft music lovers......and Ranjha Ranjha is a great combo of Carnatic (South Indian Classical), western and North Indian Folk music...

Overall the music has a very South Indian touch that makes this album very Earthy....(as it was mentioned in another blog)....

My Favourite is Beera ....followed by Behene de....what's urs?

and....FYI....u can't really compare the tracks to GURU,,,maybe coz it had a totally different story!

MY RATING - 9.15/10 (Not pure Rahman....but totally worth it!)

Of late..I have been developing a liking towards RAIN songs.....all of em...TAMIL!....starting with MAZHAYE MAZHAYE (EERAM).....THULI THULI (Paiya :P)....MAZHA PEYYUM (RENIGUNTA) and now this one....God!....hy do Tamil musicians pop out such beautiful rain numbers...at such a superfast rate....PLEASE...some one teach me TAMIL...so that I can understand these songs....better.....(and also the movies!)
An awesome song...it begins with a nickelling hum!....and lightly followed by drums!......soon the thumping drums catch up...and win over the heart of the song....

Paiya (Movie Review)

Hmmm....the agony of sitting alone in an almost empty audi at PVR, Gurgaon...on a hot Thursday noon wasn't felt today...maybe coz of the movie's edge of the seat narration....or maybe coz....there...were..afterall...a few people watching the movie...other than the Hindi speaking Nepali ushers...
To be frank...I was very much excited about the movie...coz of its music and Karthi's presence...
Music plays a huge role in luring the viewer to the theatre...and this movie is a classic example...Yuvan Shankar Raja's scores played a pivotal part in dragging me to the cinema hall (I had to cut my college today...)...as well as plying me to the seats even between passing moments of boredom and draggery!
The best one being Thuli Thuli Mazhayai.....followed by poongatre Poongatre and Adada Mazhaida...
Now the story.....well..again its a typical Tamil action flick! The Hero is nothing less than a superhero who can get the hell outta bunch of big fat hooligans...all for the selfless sake of a girl....who in this particular movie is a very ugly looking TAMMANA BHATIA!!....It starts with the Hero falling in LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! and his underrated over-reactions to get another glance of her....a song....then coincidentally meeting her....stuck in a loop of unwanted events....a few solo-fights with a group of gundas....the hero beating everyone up!...single handedly..not to forget...awesome fight sequences....and in the end...the Hero stands tall....and his friends reveal his heart to the girl....HAPPY ENDING!

Karthi plays the HERO here...tammana his lady love....a few friends...and 2 villains....one being Tammana's to-be in-laws...and other being Milind Soman n his men ...with whom Karthi had met out mercilessly in Mumbai...a few yeas ago....
They set out on a car journey from Bangalore...to Mumbai....where Tammana believes to find shelter at her grandmother's home....and on the way....the BADDIES come face to face with the two....(errr...its karthi who does the fighting!) while Tammana keeps weeping in the backseat.....looking ugly...n tainted! God! what has happened to her...how beautiful did she look in AYAN with Karthi's bro Suriya!....
With a few expected twists and turns....finally the two groups of villains unite...and finally find the duo....and the climax is shot on a street in Mumbai....and as hoped...Karthi gets the hell outta everyone!....
and finally...within a minute of the climax...the movie ends with Karthi's friends revealing to tammana about his feelings for her...blah blah blah....
That's the story in a nutshell....
Technically ....a treat....Visually....even a better treat....performance wise Karthi does well as the angry young romantic action figure....the villain frm andhra is ok...while Milind Soman struggles....Tammana seems to b dragged out of a hospital through out the movie....even the high energy ADADA MAZHAIDA felt piteous..colz of Tammana's presence...The music was AWESOME.......the chemistry sucked!...the action sequences were over the top...yet excellently pulled off....Karthi does well as the hearty heartless angry action figure....editing is quite remarkable....
Overall the movie is worth watching....entertaining... The only thing I couldn't understand is that...y do the films end so abruptly? Its a question for Mr.Lingusamy (the director) to answer....
My Rating - 3 out of 5.......hmm.....+for Karthi's charms n action....-1 for Tammana's laundering presence

Reflections
A hummable song....takes u on a long drive on a dusty day..on a highway....traversing through the heart of a mexican desert...(I hope there are deserts in mexico....are there?).....well that's what the kinda effect it has on me...when I'm listening to it...very smooth...kinda sultry......and soulful! Rajesh Roshan doesn't make music everyday....as we all know...he wears his composing jeans only for films that involves the ROSHAN khandaan of Bollywood! The Sitar used during the transition of stanzas...vaguely reminds of Kaho Naa Pyar hai's Pyaar ki kashti mei....
People who love soulful melodies...would love this....even oldies who consider modern cinema music is nothing less than stolen shit....would love this one....for there is slight retro touch ....u knw....the kinda songs...Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan used to sing in the early 90s.....
